Monster Quest – My Verdict and Rating
Monster Quest is one of the most fun but frustrating slot games I’ve come across in a while.
The theming is excellent, monsters and dragons getting slain by a Knight to win you money. The hold and spin mechanic is exciting and the Megaways mechanic is always a winner.
But, and it’s a big but, the Megaways format doesn’t come with cascades so it feels quite static. Also, the volatility is exceptionally high. I completed over 300 spins and still didn’t trigger the Free Spins bonus.
I did manage to get the Hold and Spin bonus twice, but that also has a frustrating element. The Knight only collects values the same or lower than he is, so a lot of high value monsters and dragons fill up the screen but can not be collected.
Nevertheless, despite its limitations, this slot is still fun to play. The graphics are brilliant and the audio has a gaming style to it. The above average 96.49% RTP is a plus and so is the outstanding 99,900x max win, but beware of the volatility. All in all I’ve rated it 8.1/10.

Let’s take a look at the two main bonus rounds to look out for in Monster Quest:
Hold and Spin Feature
To trigger the Hold and Spin, you need to land 5 monsters or dragons and at least one Knight. At the top of the grid, you will see six boards, and you need to fill them all up to hit the bonus round.
When that lands, the bonus starts immediately and you are given three spins, represented with hearts above the grid. Every time a monster lands with equal or lower value than the Knight, he will slay it and collect the value.
For every spin where a monster doesn’t land, the Knight loses one of his lives. For every slain monster, a life is rebuilt. The round ends when the Knight loses all of his lives, he manages to slay a dragon or the grid is full of monsters. Your winnings are the final value of the Knight.

Land 3 Scatter symbols and you’ll win 12 Free Spins plus two more for every additional Scatter. The Knight stays on screen the whole time and he slays any monster with equal or lower value.
A Megaways win multiplier applies to all standard line pays that starts at 1 and increases by 1 after each monster is slain. If 5 or more monsters land in one spin, the Hold and Spin is triggered. The Knight’s final value is awarded to the player once the free spins are complete.
