Wanted Dead or a Wild Slot Demo

Updated January 9, 2026

It’s pistols at dawn with the Wanted Dead or a Wild slot by Hacksaw Gaming. Three thrilling bonus rounds, a 96.38% RTP, high volatility and a 12,500x max win ensure gameplay just as spectacular as its dark and moody visuals. Read our full review and check out our Wanted Dead or Wild slot demo for some free play.

Our Verdict on Wanted Dead or a Wild

If you love slots with multiple features, quality theming and exciting gameplay, then Wanted Dead or a Wild is a must-play. With three free spins rounds, it has more to explore than most slots on the market. However, you don’t even have to trigger one of the bonus rounds to land the max win, as there’s a high paying base game feature too.

Exciting Duels, Expanding Wilds, and Sticky Multipliers, combined with gritty illustrations really hits the mark for theming. However, the high volatility may be an issue for some, especially casual players.  I had to spin for a long time before triggering any of the features. The good news is, they were worth it when they landed!

5 Reasons to Play Wanted Dead or a Wild Slot Demo

I played the Wanted Dead or a Wild slot for a long time, I was enjoying it a little too much!  These are my top reasons to play:

  • Theming/graphics: From the minute you open the game you are drawn into the dark, dangerous world of the Wild West. I love the gritty outlaw illustrations, sound effects and stark sunset backdrop, it all adds to the gaming experience.
  • VS symbols: A special symbol that appears in both the base game and the Duel at Dawn Bonus. Land one on a winning line, and a live duel takes place on the reels between two outlaws to give you a multiplier. This can deliver the max win, even in the base game.
  • Dead Man’s Hand: Arguably the best of the three Free Spins rounds, it has two phases. One builds up wilds and multipliers, the other collects them all up for big potential payouts.
  • Great Train Robbery: Who doesn’t love sticky multipliers? This bonus round gives you 10 Free Spins with unlimited sticky multipliers making every spin a potential big win.
  • Exciting Gameplay: This game has a lot going on even in the base game, and as a slot player I love that. It sets it apart from the majority of slots that offer just one or two features. The Wanted Dead or a Wild RTP of 96.38% is also positive as is the 12,500x max win.

How to Play Wanted Dead or a Wild Demo

Wanted Dead or a Wild has a 5 x 5 grid with 15 pay lines. The base game awards wins for landing three matching symbols from the left reel on a payline, so in that way, the game is fairly standard. However, the special symbols and bonus rounds are what makes it different. Before we go into these features, let’s take a look at how to play a basic round.

Step-by-Step Gameplay

  • Set Your Bet: Click on the ↑ and ↓ buttons beside the spin button to adjust your bet between 20p and £5.00.
  • Spin the Reels: Press the spin button and see where the reels land.
  • Get a Win: Land a win by matching three symbols from the left on a payline
  • Trigger a Feature: Bonus rounds are triggered by landing special symbols (see below for details)
  • Collect your Winnings: At the end of the round, wins are automatically added to your balance
  • Spin again!

Core Mechanics & Symbols

As with all slots, Wanted Dead or a Wild has a hierarchy of symbols with different payouts as follows:

  • Low-Value Symbols: 10, J, Q, A, K
  • Mid-Value Symbols: Animal skull & Outlaw,
  • High-Value Symbols: Money Bag, Whisky Bottle & Revolver barrel

The two special symbols are:

  • Wild Sheriff Badge: Substitutes for all symbols except the VS and the Scatters
  • VS Symbol – Expands to cover the entire reel when it forms a winning combination. Two outlaws will then duel to see which multiplier is added to your win. Potential multipliers go from 2x up to 100x. This appears in the base game and Duel at Dawn Bonus Round.

Bonus Features

On top of the base game VS duelling feature, Wanted Dead or a Wild online slot also has three Free Rounds bonus rounds. Let’s take a look at these in more detail:

The Great Train Robbery

Land 3 or more Great Train Robbery Scatter symbols to trigger this feature. You’ll be awarded 10 Free Spins with every Wild symbol remaining sticky. If you manage to get a lot of Wild symbols, it can lead to consecutive big wins on each spin. In the image below, I got a good spread of 11 Wilds which resulted in a few nice payouts.

Great Train Robbery Bonus

Duel at Dawn

Land 3 or more Duel Scatter symbols to start this feature. You’ll be given 10 Free Spins with extra VS symbols added to the reels. Every time you land a VS symbol with a winning combination, a Duel begins to add a multiplier to your reels. In the image below, I got consecutive VS symbols on reels 2 and 3, which resulted in a good return once the multipliers were added together and applied to the line win.

Duel and Dawn Bonus

Dead Man’s Hand

Trigger this feature by landing 3 or more Dead Scatter symbols on the reels. This will open up phase one of the feature where you try to collect as many Wilds and Multipliers as you can. You are given 3 Free Spins initially, and every time you land a symbol, it resets to 3, until your spins run out.

Then comes the ‘showdown’ phase, where you’re given a further 3 spins. On each spin all the wilds you collected in phase one will be added, and all wins are multiplied by your total multiplier number. The image below shows phase one with wilds and multiplier symbols on the reels, and the totalisers at the top showing 7 Wilds and an 8x multiplier collected so far. The three bullets on the right reflect how many spins remain.

Visuals and Theme

Easily one of Hacksaw Gaming’s most visually engaging slots, Wanted Dead or a Wild means business. The all-in design features a dark and dangerous land where you could be challenged to a duel or robbed by a masked outlaw at every turn. The minute you open the game, you hear a revolver reloading, almost as if it’s challenging you to spin!

I absolutely love the graphics, illustrations and overall theming of Wanted Dead or a Wild. It’s gritty, moody and completely immersive with features such as duels and train robberies. The soundtrack and backdrops add to the atmosphere with gravestones, barren landscapes, runaway trains and gunshots accompanying many of the features.

Wanted Dead or a Wild RTP and Volatility

The Wanted Dead or a Wild RTP of 96.38% is just above average for a UK online slot. That is a positive sign when it comes to potential payouts for players. However, its high volatility might be off-putting to some. I triggered the VS bonus on the base game a few times while testing out the game, but found it really hard to trigger the Free Spins rounds.

As with most high volatility slots, the payouts, when they come, tend to be higher than average. It’s just about whether you have the patience to wait them out. The fact you can trigger the 12,500x max win on the base game, though, is a nice perk.

Final Thoughts

Wanted Dead or a Wild has that well-known Hacksaw Gaming mix of innovative features and stand out graphics. The expanding wild is a recurring feature in many of their games as is the high volatility and 12,500x max win.  What sets Wanted Dead or a Wild apart, in my opinion, is the three free spins rounds and overall theming.

If you can brave the high variance and the masked outlaws, you can take home some handsome rewards in return. Try the Wanted Dead or a Wild demo to see if you have the nerve!
