Visuals and Symbols

Set in a Lost Temple, you’re in search of gold in the South American Rainforest. The visuals look great, with large stone pillars on each side of the game board carved with Aztec symbols. Behind the game board, you can see what looks like a shrine with gold coins, emblems and burning fire pits on either side. 

The highest paying symbol looks like an Indiana-Jones type explorer, followed by three different coloured masks. Medium paying symbols are animal carvings of a tiger, snake, bird and crocodile. Meanwhile lower paying symbols are carvings such as suns and crosses.

There isn’t much in the way of a sound track. In the base game, the symbols land with a dull crash sound, as if they really are stones from the temple. When a winning combination drops, the disappearing symbols leave with a machine gun-like series of thuds. Wilds come with a high pitched ding, and if you get two bonus symbols, there’s a tribal ‘huh’ noise in anticipation of landing the all-important third bonus symbol.

Avalanche Feature

This is called different things in different games. Sometimes referred to as a cascade or tumble feature, the Ecuador Gold Avalanche feature is basically the same. When a winning combination is formed, those symbols then disappear and are replaced by new symbols dropping from the top. In effect, this means you can get multiple line hits from one spin.

Ecuador Gold is a fun, dynamic slot game with some nice features. Its average 96.1% RTP offers a decent return and elements such as the ghosting wild and avalanche feature are great to see. I particularly like the theming and the expanding game grid. I do think it needs a little something more to keep me coming back though. Maybe it’s the high volatility, but I felt like there were too many streaks with either no wins or very low payouts. I simply wasn’t entertained enough while waiting for the bonus round to drop.
