Big Bass Halloween Slot Demo
Big Bass meets horror in the first of three Big Bass Halloween slots by Pragmatic Play. Released in 2023, this slot twists the usual innocent theme into a dark sinister version featuring blood-stained fish and a dark-cloaked fisherman with a hook for a weapon. With medium volatility, a 96.06% RTP and a max win of 2,100x, it follows a similar mechanic to the original series, just with a Halloween edge. Our Verdict on Big Bass Halloween – 7.5 /10
If you’re a fan of the Big Bass series of games, then you’re going to want to try this one. Similarly, if you don’t enjoy them, then stay well clear. That’s because Big Bass Halloween is basically Big Bass Bonanza, but with a spooky skin.
Payouts wise, Big Bass Halloween has a lower RTP of 96.06% (as opposed to 96.71% in the original game) but the symbols do pay better when you land them. The Halloween version also offers an Ante bet option which is new. Both games have medium volatility, the same 2,100x max win and both revolve completely around the Free Spins bonus round with potential multipliers up to 10x. Big Bass Halloween is just as potentially rewarding and as frustrating as all of the other Big Bass games so it suits players who don’t mind win-less streaks in the hope of a big catch! I do like the theming in this one though so I think 7.5 is a fair rating.

5 Reasons to play Big Bass Halloween Demo
After playing Big Bass Halloween for a while, these are my top five reasons you should give it a go:
- Familiarity: Big Bass Halloween knows what it is and players can bank on it. Sure, various versions adds twists and turns, but ultimately it’s all about those Scatters and Free Spins
- Theming: For a slot based on a sleepy seaside town and a peaceful day fishing, it does well to adapt to a horror theme. I particularly like the murderous crow standing over the dragonfly symbol from the original slot in a pool of its own blood. Nasty!
- Multiplying Free Spins: The famous Big Bass free spins mechanic is once again here, with the max potential of 40 free spins and 10x multipliers. It’s always a thrill!
- Ante bet – The Ante bet feature adds 50% to your stake but increases the chance of landing Scatters. UK slots don’t allow a Bonus Buy feature, but this is a step towards giving players extra options.
- Animations/Audio: Pragmatic Play has done well to add in extra horror-themed elements such as slashing the symbols with a hook after a win and the Halloween movie-like soundtrack during the free spins. It all adds to the atmosphere while playing.

How to Play Big Bass Halloween Slot Demo
Following the familiar Big Bass set-up, the Big Bass Halloween slot has a standard 5 x 3 game grid and 10 paylines. Wins are formed by landing 2 or 3 matching symbols from the leftmost reel on a payline and the bonus round is triggered with three zombie fish scatters. Before we take a look at the bonus rounds, here’s how a standard spin plays out.
Step-by-Step Gameplay
- Search for Big Bass Halloween in the games library of your online casino. (See below for which casinos have the game)
- Select your bet level ranging between £0.10 and £5.00. You do this by adjusting the + and – buttons either side of the spin button.
- Decide if you want to add the Ante bet feature by clicking the button at the side of the game board. This increases your bet size by 50% so think carefully.
- Hit the spin button and wait to see where the symbols land.
- Winning combinations are formed when you land at least 2 or 3 matching symbols from the left reel on a payline.
- If you hit the Bonus feature, then Free Games will begin.
- When the round is over, the game will automatically add wins to your account balance.
- Start spinning again!

Visuals and Symbols
If you thought fishing was a lighthearted pastime, then think again when you enter Big Bass Halloween. As soon as you open the game, instead of being greeted by the usual friendly smiling dungareed fisherman, you are welcomed instead by a brooding cloaked character yielding a hook high above his head in a threatening manner.
Enter the game and you’ll see three of the main symbols from the original game have been replaced. The highest paying symbol is now a buoy instead of a float and the fishing rod is now just a hook. The most haunting symbol change comes with the third highest paying symbol though. Usually a pretty dragonfly, the dragonfly’s body is now lying in a pool of blood with a crow standing over it with blood dripping from its mouth.
The rest of the symbols are familiar with a halloween twist – the tackle box, the money fish and the Royal symbols. Of course the main change is the Scatter symbol which now features blood-stained zombie fish bearing sharp teeth. Plus the sound effects are altogether more sinister and dramatic to accompany the darker visuals.
Here’s a look at the pay table:

Bonus Features
The main bonus feature in the Big Bass Halloween slot is the Free Spins bonus round, but we’ll also take a quick look at the Ante bet feature too.
Free Spins
Land at least three zombie bloody fish on a single spin and you’ll trigger the Free Spins.
- 3 Scatters: 10 Free Spins
- 4 Scatters: 15 Free Spins
- 5 Scatters: 20 Free Spins

When the bonus starts, a ladder will appear at the top of the screen. As the reels spin, every time you land a Wild (Scary fisherman), he collects all of the money fish on the screen. For every fourth fisherman you land, an additional 10 spins will be awarded with an increasing multiplier. This goes from 2x to 3x to 10x with a total of 40 spins possible.
You can see in the image below that I’ve landed enough Wilds to progress to an additional 10 spins with a 2x multiplier.

Ante Bet Feature
You can see more and more of these cropping up in UK slots. In Big Bass Halloween, an Ante bet option allows you to increase your bet by 50% in order to boost your chance of landing Scatter symbols. So, a 10p bet becomes a 15p bet and a £1 bet becomes £1.50.
The game states that it increases your chance of landing Scatters but doesn’t say by how much. Also please note that the RTP of the game is the same whether you play with or without the Ante bet.
If you choose to play the Big Bass Halloween slot demo, then you can try out the Ante bet feature for yourself. The demo version also allows you to buy the bonus round, but this is not available in the UK version of the game.
Big Bass Halloween RTP and Volatility
Medium volatility is often the sweet-spot for a lot of UK casino players who enjoy fairly regular wins and good payouts. The good news is Big Bass Halloween is a medium volatility slot. However, when it comes to RTP, it won’t suit everyone. The max RTP is 96.06% which is below average for online slots. Worse still, Big Bass Halloween is also available in 95.09% RTP and 94.09% RTP versions which many UK casinos use.
It’s always a good idea to check out the RTP in the games menu before you play to manage your expectations. If you’d rather play slots with a bigger payout percentage then check out our list of the best high RTP slots instead.
Play Big Bass Halloween Demo on Mobile
I tried out the Big Bass Halloween slot demo on my iPhone and it worked like a dream. I had no issues with lagging or any disruptions and the game ran smoothly. You can tell that Pragmatic Play has designed the game with full mobile-optimisation in mind. All of the buttons are fully visible and work well on a touchscreen, even the Ante bet option. Plus, the Halloween themed visuals looked great, even on the smaller device.

Our Final Thoughts on Big Bass Halloween
Big Bass Halloween is a classic example of taking a successful slot and adapting it for a specific season. It has all the elements you already know from Big Bass Bonanza mixed up with some quality spooky theming and audio. It’s not ground breaking in any way, but it’s not trying to be either. Clearly a success in its own right, Pragmatic Play has gone on to create Big Bass Halloween 2 and Big Bass Halloween 3 as follow-ups.
If you enjoy Big Bass slots, then I’d recommend giving this one a try. The theming is cool, the medium volatility can be fun to play and the Free Spins have the potential to be shockingly lucrative. Give the Big Bass Halloween slot demo a try to see if you enjoy it first.
